Child Dedication

The Child Dedication service is truly a parent commitment service.

It's the parent's promise to offer their child to the Lord and dedicate themselves to rearing their child for the glory of God. Family and friends are welcome to attend this commitment service.
The one-hour dedication class helps parents realize their children are God's gift. It challenges parents to be more focused to train their children as they grow in the ways of the Lord. The Discovery Land Child Dedication class is required before a child is dedicated at AAC. The class covers the following topics:

  • Reasons for dedicating a child
  • Parental responsibilities
  • Discovery Land’s role in your child’s Christian education

  • Symbolism of dedication

Frequently Asked Questions

Do You Offer Baptism for My Infant?

No. As a church, we believe baptism to be a public declaration of an individual’s personal decision to trust in and follow Christ. We believe baptism is an outward sign of an inward work already transpired. Since infants are not yet capable of making such a decision, they are excluded from baptism. Children who have personally trusted Christ are welcomed and encouraged to be baptized.

As a Parent, What Are My Commitments?

By dedicating your child, you are saying:

  • You will seek for your home to be a godly home for your child, where the child will learn by parental example the importance of God’s Word for their life; what it means to walk with God; and impact their world for Him.
  • Your child will grow up having been regularly involved and participating in a Bible-believing church.
  • The number one goal for your child as he/she grows is that they will come to know, follow, and love their Lord more deeply.

Do I Have to be Married to Have my Child Dedicated?

No, but we do ask that you are living according to Biblical standards. If you are currently living together and not married we will not dedicate your child until you are role modeling God’s standards. If you have any questions we would love to talk with you and discuss the biblical reasons behind this standard.

Single parents will need to inform the other biological parent of the Dedication Ceremony if they wish for them to participate. Class attendance and a separate, approved application for the other parent is REQUIRED. AAC is not responsible for failure of the biological parent being informed of this requirement.

We Want Our Child to be Dedicated at the Next Dedication. Is that possible?

You must attend the Child Dedication Class AND have all your paperwork in BEFORE we will schedule your child’s dedication. We will make every effort to accommodate your request, but please do not make plans until we have confirmed your date with you.
